The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre have furthered their support of the Lancaster Tour 2014
On the 8th August 2014 Lincolnshire welcomed Avro Lancaster FM213 VR-A to RAF Coningsby after her trans-atlantic flight. As part of the welcome to RAF Coningsby the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight organised an event involving the bringing together of Lancaster veterans and the two airworthy Lancasters in the world. The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre was approached to help sponsor the event along with BAE to help boost the RAF's limited budget for such occasions. The Aviation Centre of course leapt at the chance to bring such a momentous occasions to the Bomber Command veterans in attendance.. Although the weather put pay to any other flying on the day FM213 made it in to RAF Coningsby greeted by many 'Old Boys' of Bomber Command. The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is proud of its close involvement with the RAF and the ways in which the relationship continues to be strengthened.
