65th Anniversary of NX611- 30/08/2010

30 August 2010

The event celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Avro Lancaster NX611

Well, what a day!
For the first time in the last ten years (at least!) we managed to get PA474 to fly over NX611 as she taxied for the crowds! (Photos to follow)

We celebrated the 65th Anniversary of NX611 with a gathering of over 100 people who have helped NX611 over the years whether in an offical capacity or as a local company or an enthusiast.

We also hosted a Young Farmers charity event in which they pulled the Lancaster to raise money for Help for Heroes and LRSN raising over £1700.

To mark the anniversary we had flypasts by Avro Lancaster PA474 and a Hurricane followed by flying displays by Air Marshall Cliff Spink in a Mk16 Spitifre and Maurice Hammond and Dave Evans in P-51 Mustangs.

Although the weather was dubious for the morning it cleared in the afternoon allowing all of the scheduled flying to take place.
