We held our annual squadron reunion this year on 5th July.
The day consisted of a service in the hangar and down at the Memorial followed by a taxy run of Avro Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane', a flying display by Sqn Ldr Paul Day in Spitfire MJ627 and a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
We were blessed with very good weather (last year we had terential rain) this year and all of the scheduled events were completed without a problem.
As always it was a great honour and pleasure to host the reunion and have so many of the Veterans of the Squadrons based here at East Kirkby return for another visit.
Some of those paying tribute were current members of the newly reformed 57 Squardon. 57 is now a training squadron flying Grob Tutors and they provided the Standard party and Guard of honour. Numbers of veterans are slowly dwindling year on year but many of them are making the trip to the reunion and there is still a great atmostphere created as they talk of old times.
