American Air Day

05 May 2009

Sat 2nd and Monday 4th May included the first flight this season of Dakota N473DC, the Wolds Biker's run, and flying displays from both the Dakota and a Mustang as part of the American Air Day.

On Saturday 2nd May we welcomed the Wolds bikers who started their run from East Kirkby with over 600 bikes attending.  The air ambulance also managed to call in, thankfully only as an exhibit rather than on a emergency call.  The event also happened to co-incide with the first flight of the season for Dakota N473DC "Drag em Oot" which has been based with us for its winter servicing.

Monday 4th May was our American Air Day and the first of its kind to be held at the Centre.  American re-enactors set up displays and demonsrations around the Centre.  There were also flying displays, two of which were from the resident Dakota N473DC flown by John Dodd and the other from Mustang 'Marrinell' from Harwick Warbirds flown by Maurice Hammond.  They each did very impressive individual displays and joined together for a joint flypast as well.
