Meet the veterans- Sat 30th September

Bomber Command Veterans Signing Sessions

We will be joined by four Bomber Command veterans on Saturday September 30th for two signing sessions.
First session 11.30am-12.30pm
Second session 2pm - 3.30pm

They will also be in the briefing hut between 10am-11am for any one arriving earlier. 

Prints and merchandise will be offered for sale on the day, or feel free to bring along your own book or artwork for the "boys" to sign. Please note, all purchases will be cash only, collected at the signing sessions, held in the Briefing Room.

Squadron Leader George "Johnny" Johnson served as a Lancaster bomb aimer, with 97 and 617 squadrons and he is our last remaining British Dambuster.

Flight Lieutenant "Rusty" Waughman served as a Lancaster pilot with 101 "Special Duties" Squadron, he survived the ill-fated Nuremberg raid on March 30th 1944, as well as a mid-air collision.

Warrant Officer Harry Parkins was a Lancaster engineer serving with 630 and 576 squadrons, Harry survived a mid-air collision over the airfield at East Kirkby, as well as taking part in several notable operations, such as the raid on Hitler's Alpine home at Berchtesgarden.

Sergeant James Flowers served as a Lancaster rear gunner with 50 and 44 squadrons, he experienced many eventful operations, after being almost being hit by falling bombs from above, as well as surviving attacks by Me 109s, Ju 88s, FW 190s and Me 262s.
